I request to enroll and I'm handed a tablet to begin my information. Realizing I'm paying cash, I ask if there is an option to skip the credit card input info etc.
Finally, as I'm signing the 'Agreements and Conditions' he's sliding a white card and I stop as I realize I'm getting myself into something I have zero knowledge in. After I ask, he says that there are no promotions for the Black Card Membership.
During all this he is talking and joking with other friends/coworkers and occasionally breaking conversation telling me,
I go here because it's the closest. The staff is alright. Some of them are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, but every time I go in here it seems they're more interested in joking around with each other than helping customers with their needs. Most times have I come in here I barely get looked at between the time I enter and leave. That being said the few that are dedicated to doing their jobs well are wonderful and make my experience simple.
Older Planet Fitness Location. I don't normally go to this location, but I was in the neighborhood. A couple of the machines I wanted to use we being repaired, and I had to wait to use dumbbells because they were all in use. I was able to get my work out finished, but took langer than expected.
In all my 8 years in customer service, I get it, we are a pain in the a$$ but the lack of professionalism and character is absolutely deplorable.
If you want to use any of the not included options, You're out of luck. You have to sign up for elite membership, which is then as expensive as joining one of the other clubs that has a track, swimming pool, and personal trainers.
And I get it, I can take my 'business elsewhere and employees such as himself truly don't give a rat's behind what I choose to do but for two experiences BEFORE I'm even a member, just uncalled for.
His response is tossing the clerk keyboard facing me and type in the info... . Without seeing the screen (?), so basically *hoping* what I type in is accurate.
Equipment was in good working order the last time we were members.
Second circumstance, I go to PF with the intention to sign up for a year. On my way in I notice a car parked with the lights on and asked Nick at the counter if they have a way to notify someone that their lights are on.
This is a big gym with lots of options, as far as, equipment goes. The staff was extremely friendly. I went as a guest while visiting the area and had no problems.
His reply is something completely inaudible.
Whatever.
$10 a month and usually a minimal or no sign-up fee.
Two separate circumstances in the process of getting a membership where Nick was a complete novice in customer service. Called two weeks prior to the Black Friday Promotion and literally hung up on me as I was asking if the promotion covered the Black Card Membership. Confident it was intentional as he huffed into the phone several times.
There's no track. There's no pool. And there's no personal trainer options.
