Petland gets their puppies from puppy mills. It is a proven fact. Go in and ask to see breeder information on the puppies, then look up that "breeder". No reputable breeder that has the puppies best interest in mind will sell their puppies to a pet store. The animals (not just the puppies) are all living in terrible conditions and not cares for properly. If you want a dog, rescue. They are cheaper, already vet checked and spayed/neutered, and usually already microchipped as well. If you absolutely must have a specific breed for an unknown reason, then research breeders through before purchasing. Ask to see where the dog comes from, and meet the parents. And please, please never buy a pit puppy. There are plenty of pits of all ages in shelters and rescues. I foster dogs and I have seen a litter of pit puppies born in our rescue after a backyard breeder abandoned their pregnant pit. Those puppies all wen to good, loving homes. I myself had Labrador mix puppies born in my basement after their mom was abandoned. There are plenty of puppies, old dogs, young dogs, anything you are looking for if you are patient and just do a little research. So please, do what's best for these animals and rescue, or at least don't go to petland and puppy mills.
We love going to Petland. The staff is nice, and very informative about the pets they have. My daughter bought a cockateil from them and it's the sweetest little thing! They must do a lot of handfeeding with them, because I have never seen them so tame. Want to give special recognition to three employees, Sarah, Beth, and Haley. They have been able to every question I've had. You can tell that they love their job and care a lot about the animals. Keep up the great work! We will be back!
Had been here a few times before, didn’t really notice how terrible the fish are. Obviously this wasn’t the only problem in the store but while looking at the glo tetras, I noticed a whole tank of fish in which most were dead (and had been for a pretty long time it seems) or completely covered in fungus. Will not be supporting this store again.
They automatically OPEN A CREDIT CARD in your name and mail it to you EVEN WHEN YOU DECLINE the loan for a dog. Called manager who said "this is a soft hit on your credit anyways." WRONG! Transferred to General Manager who was rude and unhelpful. The workers are nice of course, but they certainly do not let the customers know about the "AUTOMATIC CREDIT CARD." By the way, the credit card has a 29.9% interest rate and fees after automatically applied after 30 days. If you filled out a paper and were considering a dog then you will need to cancel this "AUTOMATIC CREDIT CARD" to keep it off of your credit. I cannot believe this wasn't voiced while in the store. They are nice and the dogs are great, but beware. This is not what it seems. Alerted the better business bureau. Watch out!
Beautiful store with awesome pets, what a pet store should be! They had a great selection of products for our pets and the people were very helpful finding what we needed. The puppies were adorable and healthy and they had a gorgeous bird and small animals and reptiles and fish...it was a wonderful experience for me and the kids. Highly recommend a visit!
